It’s been a while since I last wrote a BrunchMusic post so I’m going to take a moment to share some music from a self-effacing character who has a real talent for producing electronic music and is releasing his debut EP – Gumbrielle – this March. The first track to be released is ‘Snapdragon’, which you can listen to here:
I’m delighted for Toby. An electronic music producer hailing from Cork, he’s talented and unpretentious when it comes to his own compositions as well as being a gifted remixer. He has a well-earned reputation for fun, textured soundscapes, brightly woven together from a multifarious range of samples.
To date, Toby has played a number of festivals in Ireland and the UK, supported acts such as Hudson Mohawke, Gold Panda, Walls and Max Tundra, and is also a regular headline performer in his own right. If you get the chance to see him live, go do it. Whether it’s a larger-scale festival such as Electric Picnic or a local venue, such as Wheelan’s or the Workman’s Club in Dublin, there’s always a great atmosphere.
Gumbrielle will be officially released on the Music/Is/For/Losers label on the 18th of March 2016 but you can already pre-order a digital download of the EP or a 12″ vinyl version.
In the meantime, here are a just a few of Toby’s past tracks (produced off-label) to whet your appetite:
